Bookings & Trips
A booking is a confirmed reservation against a listing or an event, with a durable identity and its own timeline. A trip groups bookings and follows them through their lifecycle on one timeline. Together they are the post-purchase home of the whole journey — the calm surface that turns a first trip into a returning traveler.
The booking lifecycle
Every booking moves through a clear, recorded lifecycle:
Booked → Confirmed → Upcoming → Checked-in → Completed (or Cancelled)
Each transition is stamped on two surfaces at once:
- the traveler's trip timeline, so the traveler always sees what's next
- the host's booking queue, so good operations directly build traveler trust
The trip timeline
A trip is the traveler's post-purchase home. It groups bookings and advances as each one moves, with reminders the day before. The timeline is intentionally the trust moment — one timeline instead of five inboxes.
- One plan — stays, tours, experiences, and event tickets share one timeline
- Reminders — the platform reminds the traveler ahead of each item
- Live travel-day updates (roadmap) — meeting points, gate changes, and weather notes surfaced on the timeline
One booking spine
Stays, tours, experiences, and event tickets all share a single booking model and lifecycle, not four parallel systems. That is what lets travel and entertainment be one plan: the stay, the way there, and the show are booked together because the spine doesn't care which is which.
The host's view
From the booking queue, a host or operator:
- Sees incoming bookings as they're confirmed at checkout
- Confirms them and moves each through check-in and completion
- Cancels when necessary, with every transition recorded
- Messages the traveler (in progress) to share details and meeting points
Trust feeds back in
After a trip completes, the traveler can rate and review the stay, tour, or event; the host can respond; and the review rolls into the listing's overall rating, which feeds discovery. Operations, trust, and discovery are one loop.
